The Innovate awards are about highlighting new ideas, with potential for export and local industry. Three people had business ideas that could work wonders in the rural world. For the first time, two grand prize winners were named at the annual Innovate competition. One was Tina Faulkner, who developed a computer program to help children with their writing. The other was Paul Linklater, who developed Strip Links, a commercial farming device allowing farmers to work the soil and plant seeds in one pass.
